Punishing a slave:
As a slave who has experienced "corner time" and given the choice, I would opt for the cane. Standing mute in a corner with your face to the wall for a prolonged period is both demeaning and humiliating.
Better the "pain of the cane" than the "boredom of the corner"

What and ingenious observation about the demeaning and very humiliating experience of the "corner time".
ReplyDeleteAs a Master, this revalues to my eyes the effect of a "corner time" punishment for a slave ...... especially if it is joined with a subsequent CANE-BEATING ! (there are no reasons that prevent a Master from inflicting BOTH these two punishments one after the other !)
And, for experience, I know that often the WAITING for TORTURE is often more awful and dreadful than even the torture per se !
So, for a slave, a long corner-time, knowing that after that he will be ALSO fericiously beaten or flogged, is even more tormenting than the beating per se !
