I have been a long time admirer of GaryRo's art which I first discovered through my membership of the now discontinued Chained Muscle site. Although a pay-to-view site, Chained Muscle was, in my opinion, the "go to" group for those of us who like slavery. Chained Muscle attracted the most talented artists and writers including such greats as Amalaric and others too numerous to name. It is sorely missed by many.
However, the main attraction for me was GaryRo's works - he both wrote and illustrated stories - and they always excited me. His subjects were distinctive and always beautiful to look at. He had set his own standards of erotic, male beauty and his works always showed this.
I loved his subjects; especially the slaves who I always identified with as the epitome of how a slave should be. Fantasy I know, but nevertheless real to my slave mind.
I liked all of his works and I would be hard-pressed to choose a favourite. However, the attached artwork has always appealed to me because of its content of six draft-slaves, all heavily yoked and chained, being used as sturdy beasts-of-burden.
GaryRo knew his male anatomy and the slaves in this picture confirm this. As with all his subjects, they are superbly presented with magnificent physiques and bodies stressed to the point where their well-defined musculatures are erotically displayed. And their torsos glisten with the sweat of their labours.
GaryRo usually portrayed his subjects wearing skimpy, ragged loin-cloths which added to their erotic appearances. This appeared to be one of the signature hallmarks of his works and one I appreciated. Personally, I love loincloths on slaves; they leave much to the imagination and titillate my curiosity of what lies hidden. And GaryRo used them to perfection.
Given the chance, what slave among us wouldn't don a loincloth and take the place of one of GaryRo's slaves in this magnificent work of slave art?
I know i would!

No, i haven't considered bdsmlr.com mainly because of time constraints and most of my effort is given to this blog which i set up after the lose of my tumblr blog.
Chained Muscle was discontinued some years ago and i have been told - but can't verify - the administrator had died. The loss of CM is regrettable as it had so many talented artists, writers and commentators contributing to it. I notice some of these have transferred to another pay-to-view site, Gay Bondage Fiction. However, i'm not a member of that group.
Yes, GaryRo's art is outstanding and his illustrations are superb as i noted in this post. i don't have much of his art in my collection - just a few pieces - and i will post these to this blog from time to time.
It's great catching up with you and is there anyway we can keep in touch?

ReplyDeleteas a former member of the past Chained Muscle site I warmly thank you for your repeated recalling of that marvelous site and of the greatest Artists that were contributing to it, both by Artworks and stories / comments …… starting of course from Amalaric, GaryRo and many many others it would be too long to name here (and not forgetting YOURSELF ! Please don’t be too humble !).
In particular, I fully agree with all your above words about the Art of GaryRo and about ths magnificent Artwork of his.
Two things I’d like to especially emphasize about the ones that you recall:
- The unusual frequency by which GaryRo used in his works very heavy wooden YOKES as the most effective but also as the most cruel and “degrading” tool for immobilizing even the strongest and most herculean slaves …… both while being used as beasts-of-burden but also while being dragged to Slaves Markets after their capture, or even in Slave Markets themselves, while on the auction-block, for avoiding revolts against the auctioneer and the inspecting buyers;
- The “SKIMPY, RAGGED, DIRTY LOIN-CLOTHS” that, as you rightly underline, always hardly covered the well-endowed groins of the herculean slaves and captives in the Artworks by GaryRo.
You are perfectly right in saying, about a skimpy loincloth on a muscular and good-looking young male slave: “ …….. THEY LEAVE MUCH TO THE IMAGINATION AND TITILLATE MY CURIOSITY OF WHAT LIES HIDDEN. ”
This is not only your personal opinion, Chris, this is what most men, feel in their lust when gazing at a young and very cute half-naked slave.
This “psychological effect” of “half-nudity” …… i.e. that a skimpy and tight garment is most often much more arousing than fully nudity …… was e.g. an “effect” well known to the sliest slave-traders and auctioneers in the Slave Markets of ancient Rome.
Generally they never displayed their slaves ……… both young males or females …… already completely naked. They started their auctions and even their private sales showing the slave “hardly” covered by some type of very skimpy, tight and hardly “sufficient” garment, that actually REVEALED much more than it was trying to hide ! ……. e.g. young females with a thin fabric band on their vagina and a semi-transparent voile on their breast that didn’t hide anything ……. while young and robust males had e.g. their genitals wrapped in a very scarce and tight pouch of ragged fabric that hardly contained and covered their massive male organs while, on their backs and asses, a thin strip, running in the crevice between their muscular buttocks, was fixing the pouch from behind around their waist …… so that these makeshift loincloths, instead of covering and hiding the slave’s most intimate parts, were on the contrary emphasizing them and were attracting even more the attention of the libidinous buyers on the bewitching big size of the genitals of the cute lad or youth on sale, and on his “mouth-watering” brawny and unexplored arse !
The sly slave-traders were well knowing how those indecently skimpy and tight loincloths were powerfully “titillating” (as you rightly say) the buyers’ lust and were stirring them to offer higher and higher bids.
Only later, and maybe in front of a selected group of the highest bidding buyers, the auctioneer proceeded to a very slow and even more provocative stripping to full nudity of the slave, so that buyers could admire and examine and “check” with their own hands even the most intimate parts of the slave’s body.
