The Branding Iron

A glowing, red-hot branding iron is the one thing all slaves fear the most; even more than the hippopotamus or rhinoceros bullwhip.

However, it is a fate they can't escape. Like all domesticated farm animals, they must wear their owner's mark on their naked hides to identify them as "property".

  1. Indeed branding slaves with hot irons is a must since mankind has started to be civilized and has begun to practice slavery and the domestication of other wild animals.
The first reason is of course a very practical one i.e. to be able to distinguish immediately one of your slaves e.g. from other similar slaves of your nearby farmers, exactly as it’s necessary for a cow, a sheep or a pig …...... or to capture him and have him back more quickly if he tried to run away.
And, as you rightly emphasize Chris, it’s unbelievable …… and often almost comical ! …… to see how these stupid animals named slaves ……. differently from all other animals ! ………. seem to understand and to fear very much the fact of being branded.
It’s incredible how much they seem terrorized by this right and opportune necessity. Especially if you need to brand young and particularly strong males ……. e.g. sturdy ex-warriors and prisoners of war …….. often you need to use two ….. three ….. four ….. in some special cases even five or six ! …… of the most robust guards to immobilize those herculean wild beasts that try frantically to avoid their fate and stubbornly refuse to undergo docilely what their Master orders.
However we have to recognize that sometimes there is, about branding, a small difference between slaves and all the other types of cattle and domesticated animals.
Besides just a practical reason for a quick recognizing of who owns a certain slave ……. for a few Masters a good brand is an occasion and source of pride because it shows off to all passers who is the lucky owner of certain gorgeous and particularly beautiful or massively built slaves.
Therefore such Masters do not like to apply their brand in “hidden areas” on the slave’s body, like e.g. in the buttock-crevice or on the internal side of the thighs.
On the contrary they order to apply their hot iron brand in a way that it’s very visible, and moreover on the most gorgeous parts of the slave’s physique …….. e.g. on his huge bulging pectorals if the slave is a particularly herculean bull with enormous chest-muscles ………. or on his groin, if he is a “SUPER-ENDOWED” macho with a gigantic cock and stallion-sized balls etc.etc.
In these cases most Masters design themselves their brand in a fanciful and very artistic way …… for example with the initial letters of the Master’s name artistically combined and entwined in a sort of beautiful graphical element …… or with his crest, if the Master is a nobleman (like I myself do) ……. or with a motto etc.etc.
Sometimes branding slaves becomes more an artistic work than a practical necessity.

  2. That is a powerfull évocation of the meaning of the brand. As in all your work of writting but also in PeteBrownuk the branding of a new slave is such a turning point with no return. By the way PeteBrown used this picture lately in is blog at bdsmlr. He quote you and your work while giving his views about the importance if the slave brand. So you see that your blog is watched even though not always commented. I wonder if you ever met PeteBrown during your travels in Europe. I am still very interested in PeteBrowns views ans yours about ponytraining ans how i could be used as one...

  3. Hi enak, The branding of a slave has always had a special place in my writing.

We know the branding of slaves - to show ownership - was practised by slave-owners. For me however, it goes much deeper than just that; I always wonder about the psychological impact on the slave. The brand indicated his loss of manhood and freedom and his relegation to an owned property to be used and abused at the whim of his owner. This, coupled with the fear of the branding-iron, is a subject I have touched upon in some of my stories - the latest being Nova Baiae
    .
It was interesting to read that Pete Brown also used this picture on his blog.
I wasn't aware that he had.

Regrettably, I have never had the privilege of meeting Pete although we did exchange messages from time to time but not in recent times. Pete was the first person I made contact with when I submitted my very first story, "An Object of Desire" To the SlaveNow group. Pete graciously encouraged me to continue writing and gave me advice in my early days of writing. So I am what I am because of Pete's encouragement. I think the last exchange we had was when I wrote "The Galley Slave" which I know he liked and which remains one of my favourite stories.

And Pete's enthusiasm for pony slaves whetted my appetite for using them in my stories. I can say with confidence that Pete has been a major influence in my own storytelling and he is the unchallenged leading writer in the genre.

  6. Master Karelius, this slave is looking for a Master that appreciate and share the universe of Chris and Petebrownuk and would like to emulate this universe in a roleplay of several days to week. I would like to find such a Master to serve him maybe alongside with more slaves... ponytraining could be one of that usage but farm work, garden work, pool work could also be a possibility according to the environnement of use. Have you ever practised it or know people who did ? What would you think ?
