Nova Baiae
If you are planning a vacation on Nova Baiae then you really should include a day's sightseeing on one of our tourist galleys.
Nova Baiae is like a precious emerald set in a sparkling aquamarine and turquoise sea. Although small, it is a place of great contrasts consisting of white, sandy beaches, high, rugged cliffs, rich, fertile farmlands, and high, mist-shrouded mountains covered in heavy rainforests. And its true beauty is best observed offshore.
For that reason, it is highly recommended that you take a day trip aboard one of our slave powered galleys which circumnavigate the island in eight to nine hours.
While on board your every need is catered for. Throughout the trip, you will be served refreshments and a gourmet luncheon by own onboard slaves while you sit back, relax and take in the natural beauty of Nova Baiae as your senses are lulled by the creaking and swishing of the oars.
Below deck, the galley is powered by muscular, naked slaves and you are free to watch as they provide the motive power for your trip. You can witness the sweating, grunting slaves as they bend and stretch to the oar keeping time with the beat of the hortator's drum. You'll hear the cracking and swishing of the slave-drivers' whips and the loud thwack as cruel leather bites into naked flesh followed by the slaves' cries of pain.
All this is authentic and designed to give you, the tourist, an insight to life aboard a Roman galley.
And for an additional, small fee, you can even experience being an overseer. You'll be given a whip and shown how to effectively use it and then be free to encourage the oar-slaves to greater effort.
For the tourist, it a trip not to be missed and it should be high on your list of things to do

Among the countless exciting beauties of this masterpiece titled NOVA BAIAE, one of the most ingenious and thrilling scenes invented by the marvelous creativity of Jean-Christophe fantasy ……. even if it might appear as a very short and minor detail ……. is this element of the “TOURIST GALLEYS”, powered (of course !) by a herd of muscular nude slaves, like real ancient galleys.
ReplyDeleteBut the most sadistic and thrilling detail is, in my opinion, this fact that, for an “ADDITIONAL, SMALL FEE” sadistic tourists can savour the enrapturing experience of vigorously flogging the gorgeous muscular bodies of the naked rowing slaves chained to the oars, delighting their ears at the frantic howls of pain that their whip is able to extract from those herculean tortured male bodies !
Of course such a situation is perfectly logical in a modern world and setting, like the one of NOVA BAIAE, where slavery does not exist throughout the whole civilized world (like in ancient times) but is unfortunately limited (as also the public trade and sale of slaves) just to the lucky island of Nova Baiae.
So the sadistic gay men who are visiting as tourists the island from the Continent (where slavery does not legally exist, even if slave-hunters and kidnappers are very active there) unluckily are not allowed at home to own slaves themselves, on which they could give vent to their sadistic instincts.
Only in Nova Baiae …… and just for a small additional fee ! …….. they can test the enrapturing experience of flogging to blood a muscular, handsome and masculine enslaved young male !
Powerful, exciting fantasy !

Of course, in real ancient times, the things were completely different for free sadists, even when they were not necessarily rich men.
ReplyDeleteIn ancient Rome, the situation of not owning AT LEAST ONE SLAVE for a free Roman man, even for a poor plebeian, was VERY RARE, and was considered as an indication of the most extreme and abject poverty.
So even the poorest Roman sadists could, in most cases, vent their sadistic instincts by abusing, beating, punishing at least their sole slave !
Of course rich sadistic Lords, who owned hundreds or even thousands of slaves, could give vent to their sadism in umpteenth “fanciful” ways.
There was no limit to the power that a Roman Master had on his slaves ! He could beat, flog, brand, torture, mutilate and kill or sentence to the most barbaric and painful death each of them just because he liked this and without the need of giving any reason or justification.
And no public authority of the Roman State, even the Emperor !, could interfere with this boundless power of a Roman Master over the bodies and lives of his slaves.
This explains, e.g. the cases of tortures, mutilations and executions of slaves used (often ostentatiously) by some wealthy Roman sadists as “exciting shows” e.g. during their banquets ……. to mention just two examples, out of the many recorded cases that might be mentioned, e.g. the case of Vedius Pollio, an amazingly rich courtier of Emperor Augustus, who liked very much, during his banquets to amuse and excite himself and his guests, by having a young brawny and resistant male slave lowered with a rope from the ceiling of his vast dining-hall and very slowly immersed into a central pool, filled with ferocious hungry fishes, that slowly ate him alive, piece by piece …… or the case of the psychopathically sadistic Emperor Caligula who –again during his public banquets- liked to have a slave or a war prisoner barbarically tortured to the death; and who, at the climax of his sadistic excitement, was said of frantically yelling to the executioner “LET HIM REALIZE THAT HE’S GOING TO DIE !” so that he could be even more excited not only by the desperate screams of pain of the tortured slave, but also by the terror of death appearing on his face.
By the way, in reading the ancient authors, it seems that in ancient Rome, banquets were stirring more the sadism and lust of the noble dining guests, more than their appetite and thirst !

Normally ancient Romans did not allow other free men to beat and abuse their slaves.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary they were quite “jealous” of their owned slaves, and all possible “damages” to the body of the slave of another man was punished with severe fines by Roman Courts.
For example, it was quite frequent, especially for relatively poor plebeians, to invest their little money in the purchase of one or two strong and toil-resistant young male slaves; and from that moment on, they lived with the profit of the “rented muscles and labour” of those slaves, who were rented, for occasional hard-labours, to various craftsmen, small farmers, merchants and the like.
Also in these cases, the “lessee” of these rented slaves was not allowed to abuse or severely punish those slaves. Of course he was allowed to “lightly” use a lash or a cane, if the slave needed to be “encouraged” to a harder labour, but he was not allowed to have him flogged or anyhow severely punished. If the slave had committed severe faults, the lessee had to report this to the slave’s owner who was the only one who could brutally punish him.
So in ancient times, sadists did not need to “buy” the possibility to beat, whip or torture a slave, simply because ALL OF THEM owned at least ONE slave !
Lucky people, those Roman sadists !
Just in rare and limited cases, Romans were somehow “buying” the “permission” of tormenting and torturing slaves owned by another man.
Practically the only example that comes to my mind is the one when a rich Lord was buying from a “lanista” (i.e. the owner of a gladiators’ school) one of more couples of gladiators or of wrestlers, with the agreement that they had to fight to the death !
In that case, even if formally those gladiators and wrestlers continued to be the slaves of the lanista, the man who had rented their bodies and lives for a mortal combat, was allowed to spur them to fight even with vary painful torments and real tortures, like flogging their bodies with bullwhips or burning their flesh with hot-irons.
(By the way, as attested e.g. by Seneca and Lucretius, it seems to hot-irons were very frequently used for spurring “reluctant” gladiators and wrestlers to fight with “more enthusiasm” in combats to the death !).
But in all other cases, Roman sadists did not need to pay fees to other owners of slaves, for having a gorgeous and robust young male slave under their lash and for torturing him with whips and hot-irons even to the death.
It was much easier, quicker and also much less expensive (of course a well trained gladiator or wrestler had a quite high price ! ) to go into a Slave Market and buy a new young male slave that one could beat and flog and torture and even kill, at the buyer’s liking and whim !
Indeed, very lucky people those Roman sadists !!!!!
