Waiting in a holding pen, immediately below the auction-block, these newly captured young Christians await their sale into bitter slavery.
Imagine if you can, their feelings of apprehension and fear knowing that soon they will be dragged ignominiously from the safe refuge of the holding-pen, made to mount the stairs and clumsily scrabble up on to the auction-block as their heavy shackles allow.
There, the slave's body will be extolled by the auctioneer as he is made to flex and pose and rotate his body to show his impressive physique to the eager buyers.
Eventually, a buyer will shout out - 'show us some more' - and the auctioneer will crudely tear away the slave's loin-cloth exposing his genitals to public scrutiny. The slave gasps and involuntarily covers his cock and balls in a vain attempt to maintain a modicum of decency. But the auctioneer will not tolerate any false modesty from a slave - least of all, a hated Nasrani slave - and a couple of vicious swipes of his cane across the slave's arse together with the order to 'raise your arms high above your head, slave,' ensures the nothing is hidden from the buyers.
Slowly, the slave is made to rotate his body until his back is to the buyers. Then comes the most humiliating part of any slave's sale as he is ordered to 'bend and spread'.
The slave hesitates and once more the cane is brought into use. The slave cries out in pain, frustration and anger but knows he is helpless to resist and so he shuffles his feet apart as far as his ankle chains allow, bends low at the waist and reaching behind, he opens up his arse-crack ad exposes his most private part to the buyers' lascivious view and ribald laughter. As he pulls his arse-cheeks apart, he is subjected to the loud taunts, guffaws and crude comments from an unsympathetic, hostile audience.
Next the auctioneer calls for bids and eventually the slave is sold and led away to meet his new Master and begin an onerous life of bitter slavery. One wonders what the new slave's future entails.
Such is the fate of all Christians unfortunate enough to fall into the hands of the Ottomans and their Arab brethren,

ReplyDeleteThis superb piece of erotic literature recalls to my mind ……. also for an accidental coincidence of dates, in the first quarter of the 18th century, a “bizarre” historical “romance novel” , set at the beginning of the 18th century, that I read many years ago, fully by chance.
I NEVER read those stupid and mushy “romance novel” generally mainly addressed to a public of romantic women, with the heroine that, after countless adventures, finally marries her brave, strong and macho hero.
However that was a real exception: I found the book abandoned on the seat of a train. I had a very long travel in front of me and nothing else to read. So I started to read that book for killing time.
At one third of the book I unexpectedly met one of the most extraordinary and detailed …… two and half pages, with small fonts ! ……… scenes of Slave Auctions that I ever had the chance to read ……. That was fully unexpected especially in such a genre of books.
In short the novel’s story was the one of a young French noble-girl whose betrothed young man has been captured by Barbay Pirates and sold as a slave …… a very “personal” slave !......... to the lascivious sister of the Bey of Tunis.
The brave young lady, for starting to serach and rescue him, embarks on a cargo ship directed to Malta. Of course also this ship is attacked and conquered by he Barbary Pirates and all the crew (plus the young lady) is of course dragged in chains to Tunis, where they are auctioned into slavery.
Useless to say, the beautiful young girl will be bought as a concubine for the Harem of the Bey ……. But before her rather short auction, what struck me was that the much longer description of that slave-auction in the Market of Tunis, started ……. fully unexpectedly ……. with an unusually long, detailed narration of the auction into slavery of the beefy and very cute19 years old sea-boy of the ship.
He is stripped to his waist and obliged to show off his massive hard muscles ……. various Arab bidders, men but also rich ladies, bid for the herculean boy, some of them with the intention of using the cute and very masculine teenage hunk as a gorgeous “sex-toy”; some others of just exploiting the Christian youth’s huge muscles and juvenile vigour as a beast-of- burden for the heaviest hard-labours, in the place of a mule or of a donkey.
At the climax of a fervid auction among four wealthy Lords and one rich and very noble Lady, the very muscular and very handsome macho 19 years old hunk is collared and leashed and the guards drag him by his collar, from the auction platform, down in the audience of buyers.
He is forced to pass from one buyer to the other one.
In front of the seat of each Arab buyer, the herculean teenage youth is obliged to kneel, kiss the ground and the feet of the buyer ….. and then stand at attention, absolutely motionless …… while the buyers feel, check, inspect as they like his body, his muscles, his pecs, his thighs etc. …… and even “something else” (!). included the vicious and lustful old Arab lady.
This extraordinarily detailed, cruel and exciting scene of male slave-auction continued for two pages !
I read it thousands times and I learned it by heart !
Unfortunately that bizarre book got lost during one of the many house-movings in my life.
But this magnificent post, dear Chris, revived into my mind those unforgettable pages.
