New Blog
Currently, I am establishing a back-up "Slaves through the Ages" blog at bdsmlr.org which will be similar to this site. However, as there is more flexibility at bdsmlr.org in what they allow you to post, some posts will differ.
With the loss of my tumblr blogs, I am conscious of the content of the posts I make to this site and err on the side of caution.
And of course, I have the added assurance should I lose one site, I still have another so all is not lost as was the case with tumblr.
Should you be interested, the link to the new site which I should warn is still in the preliminary stages is as follows:

Dahomey, West Africa, 1784
Work in the fields has ended for the day and these young men are skylarking on the banks of the great river that flows to the far distant ocean.
As they wrestle one another, they are blissfully unaware of the danger lurking in the nearby trees. Hidden from their view, a group of Arab slavers are observing them and waiting for an opportune time to seize them to add to their slave coffle.
The slavers wait patiently and as the young men grow more boisterous they become oblivious to their surroundings and the lurking danger.
Wrestling and grappling with one another, they don't hear the soft whirring of the weighted, rope nets hurled by the Arabs to capture them. Too late, they find themselves enmeshed in the nets and as they struggle to free themselves, they are overpowered by the slavers who waste no time in securing them for the trip back to the Arabs' camp some miles downstream.
The youths have made the slavers' task easier by being naked and there is no need to strip them. With their hands tied securely behind them and roped together at the neck, they begin the first leg of their long journey to the slave-markets of the New World.
Their howls of protests and pleas to be set free leave their new Arab masters unimpressed and any resistance is discouraged by the liberal use of their captors' whips. For the six, unfortunate youths their trip from freedom to slavery will be a long and painful one.

The Galley Slave
Looking at him now, you would never know the galley slave toiling at the oar and under the whip was once a proud Byzantine nobleman, Alexios Tifernas and friend of the last Roman Emperor, Constantine X1 Palaeologus.
After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, Alexios was taken prisoner and unlike so many other noblemen who were beheaded by the victorious Ottoman Sultan Mehmet, his life was spared. He didn't know the reason why he'd not been killed but he thanked all the saints of his Orthodox church for sparing him.
However, his relief was short lived; instead of a quick death, he was condemned to the lingering and brutal existence of a galley slave aboard an Ottoman warship waging war against the Western infidels of Rome.
No longer does Alexios wear the rich garments of a Byzantine nobleman. Now he is stark naked and he wears both the heavy shackles that chain him to an oar and the stripes of the Moslem whip upon his back and shoulders.
Between voyages, Alexios together with all his fellow slaves, have their scalps shaved - once he'd proudly boasted long, blond curls - and their bodies are stripped of all hair to deny a haven for disease carrying vermin.
Here we see the once proud aristocrat sweating and straining at the oar as his back is constantly lashed by an impatient slave-driver urging him to keep the beat of the hortator's drum.
One wonders if Alexios still thanks his Orthodox saints for sparing him for such a fate or does he now envy those noblemen so cruelly put to death by the victorious Ottomans.

The litter-bearers
This is more of a 'reaching-out' than a post, although the picture does deal with one of my favourite themes of slaves being used as naked beasts-of-burden.
Before tumblr changed their rules in late 2018, I had a similar blog with them and I came into contact with a Master from Central America who was just starting out as an erotic slave artist with his own blog called "Royalty Alter Ego" and the above picture is one of his works.
It was my pleasure to work with him and to post some of his works on my blog; indeed, we co-operated on a series concerning a slave plantation where he supplied the illustrations and I provided the text. We/we worked as Master and slave on this project to give it realism and I treated him with the respect due to any other master.
Sadly, I lost contact with him as a result of tumblr's decision to disallow posts they considered unsuitable and I don't have his email address. I would very much like to hear from him and to see how his art is progressing.
I hope that he might occasionally visit this blog and if so, I would ask that he please contact me. "Master", I would love to hear from you.
The Troika
The two matched stallions pictured on the left and right of the first picture have served their master well over the past two years as his personal pony-slaves and he contemplates using well into the foreseeable future.
However, conditions change and because he now has to travel greater distances, their owner recently purchased a more luxurious carriage suitable for his long trips. But luxury comes at a cost and the new carriage is larger and heavier than his previous one. While he has no doubts about the ability of the two muscular stallions to cope with the heavier load, he nevertheless requires that now, they run at greater speed over longer distances. Therefore, he has added a third slave to assist thus effectively turning the team into a troika.
The new purchase is an as yet, untried young colt fresh out of the training stables but guaranteed by his former trainer to be a good performer with great stamina and pulling power who responds well to the driver's whip. The colt will be harnessed to run between the two stallions and he will add that extra slave-power needed to pull the heavier load.
The picture shows the two stallions welcoming the new colt and no doubt, they will greatly appreciate his physical contribution in sharing the heavy burden of pulling their master's new carriage.
And of course, there is another reason why they are enthusiastically welcoming the new colt as is evident in the second picture. Of a night time, alone in their stable, the colt will become their filly.

Missing in Action (MIA)
In military language, the term 'missing in action' is ambiguous and can mean one of several things. In the absence of any physical evidence, it means the fate of any missing military personnel is unknown; whether or not they are dead, wounded or taken prisoner by the enemy is unclear and leaves doubt in the mind of their loved ones.
Or in some cases, it can mean that the 'missing' face a very different fate as shown in the above picture.
These three soldiers, members of the Western alliance fighting in Afghanistan, were captured by the local militia and are now officially declared 'MIA, presumed killed in action' leaving their families and friends to grieve for their loss.
Once not long ago, they would have faced a gruesome fate when captured. As hated infidels and crusaders they would have faced slow torture and death at the hands of their captors.
However, they are very much alive as we can see and they are now seen as a valuable resource and generator of money to fund the militia's ongoing battles. Instead of being killed - such a waste really - they were sold to an Arab slave-trader who specialises in white slaves and transported to a clandestine slave-market in a major Middle-Eastern city to be sold.
Slaves such as these three are in great demand as sex slaves with wealthy Middle-Eastern potentates and oil billionaires and with newly wealthy Black Africans from West Africa who consider owning a naked, white slave kneeling before them as the ultimate status symbol.
The picture shows them being presented for a 'private viewing' for the slave-trader's most valued clients in a secluded courtyard of his slave-market. Stripped naked, shackled hand and foot and chained by the neck to a viewing post, the new, as yet, unsold slaves nervously await the arrival of the buyers.
Each is lost in his thoughts as he remembers his former life as a free man and now contemplates his awful future as a slave. What fate awaits him? Will he be used as a beast-of-burden toiling under the whip or will he be his new Master's 'plaything' and sex toy?
Only time will tell and in the meantime, the three slaves are left with their solitary thoughts - and fears.
This is one of my all-time favourite pictures which is frequently found on the internet and I am sure most of you are familiar with it. It is of course the art of the incomparable Amalaric and though I don't know or certain, I suspect he created it to use in one of his stories. However, the text appearing here is my version of this highly, evocative scene of slaves waiting to be sold in a secluded slave-market. Chris

The pony-slave.
Today, we tend to value our equines more than we do our slaves. Ask people their opinions of a horse or a pony and most will answer that they are noble, affectionate and loyal animals. Conversely, ask the same people their opinions of slaves and they will answer that they are shiftless, cunning, sly and lazy creatures that must be driven hard to meet their work quotas.
Therefore, it's not surprising that more people are now using slaves in the roles once reserved for equines. Now, teams of yoked slaves hauling heavy drays and wagons are a common sight on our streets and a natural consequence of this is that slaves are also being used, more and more, as 'ponies' to pull our personal traps and carriages.
In these days of environmental awareness and the need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, there are advantages in using slaves
rather than ponies or horses. For a start, a slave has a smaller environmental footprint, doesn't require as much food and he is easily and inexpensively housed in smaller accommodation than a large, expensive purpose-built stable.
Today, we tend to look at a slave to judge his potential to serve as a pony-slave and depending on his owner's preference, a pony-slave can be smooth bodied or as in the picture above, he can have a light covering of body hair. Some owners believe the retention of hair on a pony-slave adds to his appearance of masculinity and strength. However, it is always a case of the owner's personal preference if his pony is glabrous or hirsute.
The use of harness and other accoutrements on a pony-slave, as shown in the above, is purely one of ascetics and serves no useful purpose other than to draw favourable attention to the animal's appearance. Somehow, the judicious use of leather harness does emphasise the slave's physique and muscularity and no doubt draws many admiring glances as it is driven through the streets.
